Abbey D’Agostino win Women's Individual 

Abbey D’Agostino won the 2013 NCAA Cross Country National Championship. 

「NCAA DI Cross Country Championship」女子個人はAbbey D’Agostino（SR-Dartmouth）が優勝した。D’Agostinoは2011年３位、2012年準優勝、最終学年の今年は遂に優勝を射止めた。Ivy League選手の同大会優勝者は男女を通じて初めてである。

彼女は2010年に全米学生5000mで優勝し、2013年に入ってインドア3000、5000で全米優勝している。今回のクロスカントリー（6000m）優勝で全米学生タイトルは５つになり、NCAA史上最多タイトルホルダーになった。

彼女のようなアスリートは100年に１人しか登場しない。伝統のDartmouth Greenのユニフォームが全米チャンプに着用されたのは、後にも先にもD’Agostinoが初めてである。

カレッジのTrack & Fieldユニフォームは日本でほとんど紹介されることがないから、Oregonのユニフォームもご紹介しておきます。Oregon Ducksは現在NCAAで最も人気の高いカレッジユニフォームである。

「NCAA DI Cross Country Championship」男子個人戦優勝は予想を覆して、新入生ランナーEdward Cheserek（FR-Oregon）だった。序盤は2012年優勝のKennedy Kithuka（SR-Texas Tech）が終始レースを牽引し、Cheserekが追うという展開だった。中盤までは両者互角だったが、８,000mを過ぎた時点でCheserekがKithukaを振り切った。同大会の新入生優勝は1988年のBob Kennedy（Indiana大）以来25年ぶりである。

全米学生クロスカントリー大会は1938年に始まった大会で、80年近い歴史を持つ伝統の大会である。アメリカには駅伝のようなチーム対抗レースは無いので、200人を越えるランナーが一斉にスタートするクロスカントリーは、長距離レースの華といっても過言ではない。短距離はアフリカンアメリカン・アスリートの独占に変わったが、長距離レースはかろうじてコーケイジアン・アスリートが食い込める種目として残されている。伝統校のトラック&フィールドユニフォームがゆっくりと観られるのもクロスカントリーレースくらいになった。これから２月のUSA Track and Field Cross Country Championshipsまで、クロスカントリーのシーズンが続く。

Colorado captured its fourth national championship in school history

2013 DI Cross Country Championshipが LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course（Terre Haute,IN）で11月23日開催された。団体戦31チーム、個人戦38選手がファイナルに出場した。

男子団体戦はColorado（Total Time : 2:33:15.70）、女子はProvidence（同1:43:49.10 ）が優勝した。個人戦は男子Edward Cheserek（FR-Oregon）、女子はAbbey D’Agostino（SR-Dartmouth）が優勝した。

Colorado は最終局面でNorthern Arizonaに逆転勝ち４回目の優勝である。Providenceは全米クラスのEmily SissoとSarah Collins両選手を擁して優勝候補の最右翼で、準優勝のArizonaとデッドヒート繰り広げたが振り切った。女子個人優勝のD’Agostinoは2012年準優勝で、優勝候補最右翼だった。男子個人優勝はオレゴン大学のEdward Cheserek（FR-Oregon）だった。

 adidas A.G.（HQ: Herzogenaurach）はFIFA World Cupスポンサーシップ契約を2030年まで延長すると11月21日発表した。契約はFIFA World CupとFIFAが開催する全てのイベントに対するパートナーシップ、サプライヤー、ライセンシング権を含む。契約金額はディスクロージャーされていない。

FIFAとアディダスは1970年にパートナーシップをスタートし、80年代中期のアディダス経営危機時代も含めて40年間にわたって協調体制を維持してきた。

ナイキは2010年南アフリカ大会からサッカー市場攻略を強化してきたが、アデイダスの強固なプレゼンスを崩せなかった。2014年（ブラジル大会）に続いて、2018年モスクワ大会もアディダスが独占供給することが決まっている。2030年までの契約延長で、アディダスは長期的な基礎固めをしたことになる。

オバマ大統領は11月20日（水曜日）、Arlington National Ceremonyにある故ケネディ大統領墓前に献花した。大統領はミシェル夫人、ビル・クリントン夫妻と同行し、エセル・ケネディ（ロバート・ケネディ未亡人）、ケネディ駐日大使家族も参列した。

1963年11月22日のケネディ大統領暗殺以降は、歴代大統領の献花は恒例行事になってきた。

オバマ大統領は同日午前に、ホワイトハウスで「Presidential Medal of Freedom」の授与式にも参列した。Presidential Medalは故ケネディ大統領が制定したメダルで、合衆国市民が受賞できる最上級メダルである。今年はビル・クリントン、オープラウインフリー、グロリア・スタイナムなど16人が授与された

2013年11月22日はケネディ暗殺から50年のため、献花もメダル授与式も例年より特別な行事が準備され、メディアの注目も集めている。同日夜は、スミソニアン博物館で、歴代の受賞者を招待した晩餐会も開催された。22日にはテキサス州ダラスで追悼式典も行われる。公式行事とは別に、スティーブン・スピルバーグによる映画制作も話題を集めている。

当然、これらの追悼式典には、ケネディ家も招待されるわけで、キャロライン・ケネディが22日以前に駐日大使に赴任したのは、それなりの理由があったと憶測も飛び交っている。現在、公式式典にはジョン・シュロスバーグが主に参列している。

The Nike We Run Race Series 2013

30,000 runners at We Run Seoul

Nike’s We Run races range in distance from 5K to a full marathon and reflect the unique enthusiasm of each city. From Sao Paulo, to Seoul, to Singapore, runners will be moved to action through a series of unique experiences. 

30,000 runners took to the streets of Seoul on Nov. 17 for the Nike We Run Seoul race, part of Nike's global We Run race movement. 

ナイキは11月17日「We Run Seoul」を開催した。参加者は30,000人で、コースは10kと7kが設定された。ナイキは２カ月前から「Nike Run the City」マップをアップロードし、ディジタルランニングゲ−ムを運営してプロモーションを展開した。このゲームには65,000人が参加したとナイキは発表している。韓国はディジタル先進国だからこれは適切なプロモーションで、参加者のうち13,000人はランゲームでレジスターしている。今年は高校生枠（3,000人）も設けたようで、７kは高校生向けのコースである。

The 10K course took participants past iconic locations such as Kwanghwamun Square and Seoul City Rally Square, over the Mapo Bridge and finished at Yeouido Park.

「Nike We Run」シリーズは８月31日プラハ（チェコ共和国）からスタートし、ソウルは18都市目である。最終都市ジャカルタ（12/15）まで、４カ月間をかけて26都市でレースを開催する。全都市の参加ランナーは35万人と予想されている。アジアではシンガポール、マニラ、ソウルでも開催されるが、日本では開催していない。

NFL第11週サンデーナイトフットボール（11月17日）、Kansas City Chiefs＠Denver BroncosがSports Authority Field（コロラド州デンバー）が対戦した。両チームは第13週にも対戦を控えており、どちらが先勝するかで、カンファレンス優勝、プレーオフにも影響する。両チームファンだけでなく、全米が注目する好カードだった。ゲームはブロンコスが27-17でチーフスを破った。チーフスの開幕連勝記録は９勝で止まった

Champions Classics

No. 2 Michigan St holds off top-ranked Kentucky 78-74 in what could be preview of Final Four. This was the earliest 1 vs. 2 match-up, and first since Feb. 23, 2008.

カレッジバスケットボールシーズンの開幕を告げる「Champions Classics」が11月12日、United Center（イリノイ州シカゴ）で開催された。先週金曜日にはプレシーズンマッチの「2013 Armed Forces Classic」が開催されたが、Champions Classicsは実質的なSeason Tip-Offで、いよいよウインタースポーツの王者NCAA Basketballシーズンがスタートした。

The No.4 Duke Blue Devils and No.4 Kansas Jayhawks traded blows for the better part of 40 minutes, but the Jayhawks were able to pull away in the final minutes to earn the win, 94-83, on Tuesday.

ゲームは「Kentucky Wildcats x Michigan State Spartans」、「Duke Blue Devils x Kansas Jayhawks」のダブルヘッダーで、7 : 00PM ESTに始まった。結果はMichigan State（78-74）とKansas（94-83）の勝利に終わったが、対戦した４校ともTop５にランクインしている有力校で、いずれも来年３月のNCAAトーナメントで全米No1を狙える位置にいる。

Michigan State won 78-74,Kentucky looked very far along for a team full of freshmen. The Spartans were tenacious on defense, not allowing the Wildcats to penetrate into the lane.

Kentuckyは現在ランキングNo1チームだが、ランキングNo2のMichigan Stateが振り切った。KentuckyのJohn Calipali（HC）は若手育成に定評のあるコーチで、今季フレッシュマン中心の布陣を敷いている。いっぽうKansasとDukeは、超高校級の鳴り物入りでKansasがリクルートしたルーキーAndrew Wigginsが予想通り大活躍して圧勝した。

Champions Classics は2011-13の３年間の開催契約だったが、４校とも今後３年間の開催契約延長に同意しているから、2014-16にも現在の４校対戦で開催することが決定している。

The 2013 MTV EMA（11月10日）はウイナーだけでなく、Miley Cyrus のパフォーマンスも注目されていた。彼女は8月のMTV VMA（Barcleys Center, Brooklyn, NYC）で、センシュアルなパフォーマンスでひんしゅくを買ったから、メディアの注目が集まっていた。

今回もコスチュームは挑発的だったが、コレオグラフィーは比較的正常で、センセーショナルというところまではいかなかった。Hannah Montanaの頃の、良い子像に対する反動とみられているが、Ms Cyrusはなかなか大人に脱皮できないでいる。

The MTV Europe Music Awards（2013 MTV EMAs）was held at the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 10 November 2013. Stars including Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars perform at the event in Amsterdam.

2013 MTV EMA 授賞式がZiggo Dome（オランダ：アムステルダム）で11月10日夜開催された。オランダ開催は1997年以来16年ぶりである。

ショーはMiley Cyrusのオープニングパフォーマンスでスタートした。さすがにMTVだけあってパフォーマーはKaty Perry、Bruno Mars、Eminem達が登場するという豪華版だった。
