NIKE WOMEN’S HALF MARATHON IN WASHINGTON, D.C. 2014

Race celebrates female athletes and benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

 

The Nike Women’s Half Marathon in D.C. is part of the Nike Women’s Marathon series, which began in 2004 to celebrate and motivate female athletes around the world.  

Nike Women’s Half Marathon in Washington DC」（NWM-DC）が4月 27日開催された。今年は第２回目で、約15,000人が参加した。スタートラインはホワイトハウスに近いペンシルベニアAveと9丁目の交差点（9th St NW and Pennsylvania Ave NW）で、午前７時にスタートした。今年の１位はKaitlin Sheedy（31歳：1:20:56）で、今年の１位はKaitlin Sheedy（31歳：1:20:56）で、完走者全員にティファニーの特注ネックレスがプレゼントされた。

All finishers will receive an official finisher's necklace designed by Tiffany & Co.

同大会はLeukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) のチャリティマラソンで、2004年に第１回大会をサンフランシスコで開催した。2014年はちょうど10周年で、過去10年間の累計募金額は１億4,700万ドルとなった。

レースはNikeがスポンサードしているため、大会限定のフットウエアモデルが発売されることでも人気がある。木曜日から「The Nike Expotique（Expo + Boutique）」も開催され、限定モデルはExpotique会場とNike Georgetown Store（2013年オープン）、それにNike.comで発売された。今回の限定モデルはNike Air Max Thea DC、Nike Pegasus 30 DC、Nike Flyknit Lunar2 DC、Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit DC の4モデルである。
